MADRID — The Spanish government proudly announced that after a recent demographic change, the city of Ceuta is now the fastest-growing city on the planet.
Spain stated that Ceuta has become something of an overnight sensation, with tens of thousands moving into the city over the course of mere hours.
"It has become the hot destination, especially for young men," said Spanish government spokesman Alejandro Via. "There are so many people pouring into the city, we literally cannot stop them. The population growth is explosive and unprecedented, a true reflection of the amazing work the Spanish government has done in making Spain such a desired destination. Move over, Texas and Florida. Cueta is now the fastest-growing place in the world!"
According to local reports, the population of Ceuta, previously 85,000, increased by 75% over the course of just two hours last week. "What a testament to how wonderful Spain is," said local man Carlos Pineda. "People are actually killing each other by the dozens just to get here. There are a bunch of people sleeping on my lawn because there are simply no beds left in the city. It is a proud accomplishment for all of Spain."
At publishing time, thousands of the new arrivals had returned to Morocco, prompting the Spanish Tourism Board to announce that Ceuta had quickly rebranded itself the top tourist destination on the planet.
