TOKYO — Following a trend in the video game industry to stop serving women up for the male gaze, Ms. Pac-Man has been made less sexy for the modern-day remake of the classic arcade hit.
Ms. Pac-Man, originally designed to be the sexy counterpart and wife to the original Pac-Man, first hit arcades in 1982. She was introduced to the gaming public as the "new femme fatale of the video game world" with her long legs, painted face, and pretty red bow, but now in 2026 she has been given a modern facelift in a remake that has made her into an unappealing uggo, unconcerned with appealing to men.
"Women are not eye candy for men to turn into objects for their pleasure," said game journalist Karen Sprinkle. " It's 2026, we're not going back into some misogynistic nightmare where our only purpose is to please a man with classic male-centered standards of beauty. If you're a man looking for a beautiful woman in your video game, this game is not for you. Don't buy it."
Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., the current publisher of Ms. Pac-Man, was asked to comment on the character being turned into an ugly she-beast to satisfy the woke mobs.
"Ms. Pac-Man is a yellow circle that eats dots," said President Miyamoto. "Please buy new game, please."
At publishing time, developers of the new version of the game confirmed that, in keeping with modern depictions of female characters, Ms. Pac-Man would now be better and stronger than Pac-Man in every way.
