Some people are too intimidated to talk to their pastors directly, so the church suggestion box is a great tool for collecting anonymous feedback on your church service. We asked pastors to share some of the most helpful ideas they've received in the suggestion box. The answers may astonish you.
The most helpful suggestions:
"We should sing more hymns.": Not a bad request. Hymns are great. This seems totally doable.
"We should sing fewer hymns.": Crap.
"Here's a complete list of the songs I would like to sing in the church year, and I will only sing these ones.": Straightforward and to the point.
[Prayer request card with gum stuck to it]: An improvement over most prayer requests.
"Please make the sermons shorter.": They've already been shaved down to 15 minutes.
"Here is my 12-page proposal for how to completely overhaul the leadership structure of the church.": Very helpful.
"Sermons are still too long. Please make them even shorter.": The people have spoken.
"You're getting too political.": Jesus would never preach a sermon on abortion. Way too political.
"You're not political enough.": Seriously. Stop being such a coward.
"No sermons.": Hmm.
With suggestions like these, it's no wonder the church suggestion box is among the most sacred sacraments of the evangelical church. What do you consider the most helpful of these 10 suggestions? Let us know in the comments.
