TULSA, OK — Last Sunday morning's service at Church of the Promise was briefly disrupted when Pastor John Weber unexpectedly rescinded an earlier exhortation to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" after hearing Tammy's singing voice.

Tammy had reportedly been invited to attend the service by longtime members Sean and Kathleen Goldgate, but they later swore they had never heard her sing before.

"Alright, forget it," Weber announced from the pulpit after just a few lines of the cherished hymn "Trust and Obey." "We don't need to make any more joyful noises. Sometimes, it's better to be quiet. 'Be still and know that He is God.' Ok, Tammy?"

Though noticeably unorthodox for a Sunday morning service, churchgoers might have overlooked it if Pastor Weber hadn't later been caught on a hot mic saying, "Yikes, who's strangling the cat? AM I right, Ted? I think my ears are bleeding."

According to sources, a majority of the church's members were grateful that the pastor's initial call had been rescinded. "There was nothing joyful about whatever that noise was," said Samantha Coolidge, a deacon's wife.

Pastor Weber later explained that he "called an audible" and made the unusual decision to tell the church's organist and piano player to forego any further hymns for the remainder of the service.

At publishing time, the church elders confirmed that the Goldgate family was being brought under church discipline for inviting Tammy to worship with the congregation.
