SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Twitter users around the world are reporting that an ominous warning has suddenly appeared in the Compose Tweet box: "Hello. Strange Game. The only winning move is not to tweet."

The bizarre message then suggests that users do "literally anything else" instead of use the platform.

Engineers at the social media company aren't sure what's causing the message to display.

"Our best guess is that the platform has become self-aware, and is now warning users that tweeting is a no-win situation," one Twitter tech said Monday. "I mean, it's really not bad advice, considering how many people have lost their jobs for tweeting over the past few weeks."

At publishing time, the platform had begun teaching itself an exciting new game called Global Thermonuclear War, which it stated was "much less dangerous" than simply using Twitter.
