LOS ANGELES, CA — Mass protests over the federal government's crackdown on illegal immigration received a touch of Latino flavor over the weekend, as one Mexican rioter added a lime wedge to his Molotov cocktail.

The innovative twist occurred Sunday afternoon when a large mob of protesters clashed with law enforcement in downtown L.A., as a rioter later identified as 26-year-old Mexican national Alejandro Rodriguez stuffed a slice of lime into the opening of the Modelo bottle he used to fashion his improvised incendiary device.

"This will add the perfect kick of citrus," Rodriguez was heard saying before lobbing the now-Mexican Molotov cocktail at police officers. "The bright acidity of the lime will provide just the right pairing with the gasoline as the bottle shatters in a burst of flames. Viva la raza!"

Following the altercation, law enforcement officers confirmed that the attack bore a noticeable Latin flavor. "You know, now that you mention it, there was a hint of lime in there," said LAPD riot officer Dave Gorman. "I saw the flash of light, felt the sudden rush of heat from the fire when the Molotov cocktail exploded on the cruiser I was standing next to… and then, there was the refreshing twist of lime at the end. An unmistakable bit of Mexican flair. Still totally sucks to have people firebombing you, though. I can't recommend it, lime or not."

At publishing time, the anti-ICE mob had reportedly also hired a mariachi band to provide authentic Mexican accompaniment as a soundtrack for the riots.
