ROME, GA — After a long holiday weekend, local man Kevin Simpson returned to his office at River City Bank this morning, refreshed and ready to give a mediocre effort.

Simpson arrived at his desk recharged from a three-day weekend filled with football and family time, ready to get back to the grindstone and do a somewhat passable job.

"Getting away for a few days really helps me recharge so I can come back in here and be adequate," said Simpson. "It's tough coming in day after day, giving your average. You need time away to refocus and get that fresh perspective. I woke up this morning feeling rested, energized, and ready to be satisfactory."

Simpson said the time away had also given him a renewed appreciation for his career and reminded him why he got into banking in the first place: because there was an opening at a bank.

"Sometimes you get so caught up in the daily grind that you forget what it's all about," he said. "Then you get a break, and you realize that you still need your job for the health insurance. You really get that boost to keep on kind of trying to do decent work."

At publishing time, the bank manager had updated Simpson's work performance to "tolerable."
