KANSAS CITY, MO — With the conclusion of the World Series, the Major League Baseball season had officially come to an end, leaving one local man looking forward to being sorely disappointed by his favorite team's offseason moves.

Tom Kimmel, a devoted fan of the Kansas City Royals, was dejected after the team fell just short of making the playoffs but was eager to see what changes and additions he hoped for that the club would fail to make in the coming months.

"It's going to be exciting to see what they don't do this winter," Kimmel said. "The team could really use a corner outfielder who can add some pop to the middle of the lineup, along with an upgrade at second base and leadoff hitter. I can't wait to be really let down by the moves they make before next season."

A diehard follower of the team, Kimmel said the disappointment of the offseason was something he had grown to look forward to every year. "It's like a really sad version of Christmas," he said. "You get to fire up the ‘hot stove' talk and look around at all the other teams making trades and signing new players to improve their rosters, and then you look at your team and feel that familiar emptiness. There's just nothing like baseball, even in the offseason. It'll be great."

At publishing time, Kimmel was skimming through the latest online articles about free agency to see which teams other than Kansas City were projected to sign all of the best available players.
