HOUSTON, TX - In a video posted to his social media accounts Sunday, Pastor Joel Osteen encouraged his congregation to continue the practice of scriptural distancing, where you stay at least 6 feet away from the Bible.

"For your own safety, stay 6 feet away from Scripture at all times," Osteen said. "You don't need that kind of negativity in your life!" Should you need to get close to a Bible for any reason, Osteen said, you should cover the pages with medical-grade material to make sure none of its truth convicts you of your sin and need to repent before a holy God.

"You can't be too careful out there," the pastor said toward the end of the video. "Failure to distance yourself from the Scriptures appropriately could result in conviction of sin, faith and trust in Jesus instead of yourself -- and then, what would you need me for?"
