WILMINGTON, DE — Secret Service agents reportedly looked at each other and shook their heads on Wednesday, as former President Joe Biden committed an unfortunate act of mistaken identity while his motorcade passed a house with a lawn jockey.
Biden's detail was taking him back to his home after a morning trip to a diner for breakfast, when the former president suddenly rolled down his car window and shouted out a greeting to the small statue of a black man in the front yard of a stranger's house.
"Hi, Barack!" Biden reportedly yelled as the car sped by the lawn jockey.
The former president's aides were confused as he explained his outburst to them. "Did you see that?" one source said Biden asked the other people in the vehicle. "Barack was out there. Obama. Standing in the… standing… standing in the… in the… he was right there. Looked just like him. Black fella. That's how I knew it was him. I worked with him for eight years. Members of Biden's Secret Service detail revealed that this was not the first time he had been convinced he had seen former President Barack Obama. "Yeah, it happens most days, actually," one agent said under the condition of anonymity. "Every time he watches a movie with Denzel Washington. Every time he watches Don Lemon's podcast. Basketball players, baseball players… pretty much any black man."
At publishing time, Biden had asked his wife, Jill, when Obama had gotten into the food business after seeing his picture on a box of Uncle Ben's Rice.
