MILWAUKEE, WI — While being questioned by authorities following her arrest, FBI agents discovered 17 more illegal aliens hiding in the back of County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan's robes.
"Oh, that's — that's weird," Agent Damon Chandler was heard saying as he made the chilling discovery. "That ain't right, your honor. These robes are for justice... not breaking the law."
Judge Dugan, who was charged with two felonies for aiding and abetting an undocumented migrant, has now been charged with a further 17 felonies for hiding Mexicans in her judge robes. In a 17-page complaint filed by District Attorney Al Shelbin, Dugan was accused of obstruction of justice and human trafficking. In addition, a Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee returned an opinion that using judge robes to conceal human beings was not permitted.
DOJ sources said Dugan entered a "not guilty" plea, saying she was merely holding the foreigners for a friend. According to her attorney, Dugan bears no responsibility for the citizenship status of any persons found in her robes. "When's the last time you asked someone hiding in your robes if they were a U.S. citizen?" the attorney asked the court. "That just wouldn't be appropriate. Robe dwellers are people, too."
Dugan then reportedly concluded her time being questioned by specifically asking FBI agents to avoid opening the trunk of her car or looking under the bench in her courtroom.
At publishing time, a warrant had been issued to search Judge Dugan's office, where 30 more illegal aliens were found hiding in the cabinets.
