U.S. — Evangelicals are furious after President Trump shared a sacrilegious picture of himself as the famous Christian-themed superhero Bibleman.
The picture, a seemingly AI-generated image of Trump wearing the iconic Bibleman armor and raising a finger as if ready to quote scripture to an enemy, was shared by the president on both Truth Social and X, sparking controversy among believers. "How can he do this?" longtime Trump supporter and Baptist Larry Case asked. "This is incredibly disrespectful. It's heresy!"
On social media, evangelical leaders replied to the president's post, urging him to remove the post and save his soul. "Delete this!" posted Pastor John Piper. "Blasphemy is not funny." Franklin Graham, who has previously advised Trump on spiritual matters, quoted his hero, Bibleman, directly by posting, "No one gets away from Bibleman. In the name of Jesus, I command you to stop!" Meanwhile, John MacArthur only said, "Reported."
In addition, Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills has identified the social media image as possibly the mark of the Beast.
Bibleman creator Tony Salerno said he was flattered by Trump's reference to the character but strongly suggested Bibleman himself would not approve.
At publishing time, President Trump doubled down by posting an image of his wife, Melania, as Psalty the Singing Songbook.
The USA undeniably trumps our neighbors to the north.
