WASHINGTON, D.C. — Prominent Democrats issued an ominous warning to conservatives in light of Jimmy Kimmel's sudden cancellation, vowing that someday, conservatives would find out what it's like to be canceled.
ABC cut ties with Kimmel, placing his late-night program on indefinite hold this week, due to low ratings and alleged pressure from the FCC, leading to the Democrats calling it an unprecedented move of censorship.
"We have never before seen anything like this in America," Senator Chuck Schumer told reporters at a press conference. "We lived in perfect harmony with Republicans before, never once encouraging mobs of people to complain, harass, dox, or cancel conservatives because we didn't like what they said. But be warned — someday they'll know exactly how it feels."
"You've taken this poor man and ruined his life over one comment he made," Congressional Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said, admonishing Republicans on the House floor. "We have never done any such thing to you, but you just wait and see. Someday the tables will turn, and we will see who cancels who."
According to Democrats, studios firing Rosanne Barr and Gina Carano due to social media posts, President Trump being banned from Twitter, and calls to boycott Chris Pratt, Joe Rogan, and J.K. Rowling did not count.
"Those were different," said Democrat Ted Lieu, who previously praised the cancellation of Dr. Seuss books. "We're nothing like Republicans. For example, 'Democrat' starts with a 'D.'"
At publishing time, Democrats threatened to dox Republican constituents who disagreed with their threats to someday retaliate by canceling conservatives.
