AUGUSTA, ME — The Democratic Party reportedly grew concerned that former candidate Graham Platner might force himself onto the ballot without the party's consent.
Though Platner had agreed to suspend his campaign, worries had grown overnight that Platner could still keep the Democratic Party pinned down by muscling his way onto the general election ballot.
"We can say 'no' all we want, but we're concerned Platner may not listen," said Maine's state Democratic Party Chair, Michael Gallagher. "Platner can still do whatever he wants with us, and we don't have a way to resist. The party simply does not have the strength to push him off the ballot come November."
Sources within the Democratic Party said that leaders were working on how to scare Platner away from jumping on the ballot. "Unfortunately, Graham seems like the sort of person who might continue without our permission," said party operative Gina Forrester. "We're not sure if screaming at him will really serve as a deterrent. We will arm ourselves however we can to protect the ballot from unwanted advances from forceful candidates."
At publishing time, the Democratic Party had issued a warning that Eric Swalwell could also still try to push himself onto the California ballot in November.
Rumors swirl about the current condition of Senator Mitch McConnell, but his staff have come out to say that even if he were dead he will still be able to finish his term.
