WASHINGTON, D.C. — Democrat members of the Armed Services Committee questioned nominee Pete Hegseth's qualifications to serve as Secretary of Defense after they learned he had never once worn a dress.

The troubling revelation came out during the course of this morning's tense hearing, with Democrats sounding the alarm over the fact that Hegseth admitted to never having dressed in drag at any point in his life.

"How can someone like this effectively lead our military?" asked Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal. "The position of Secretary of Defense requires someone with strong leadership skills, an understanding of the role of the military, and experience in choosing an evening gown that properly matches a pair of heels. Mr. Hegseth's lack of this experience is troubling, to say the least."

Other Democrats shared the same sentiment. "It's the most important qualification there is for a defense secretary," said Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono. "Sitting here and hearing that Mr. Hegseth has never worn a dress is shocking. I don't know how he expects to effectively oversee today's American soldiers. We've spent the last decade creating a military full of heroic cross-dressers and ladyboys, and we need a Secretary of Defense who meets the same criteria."

Senator Elizabeth Warren, in particular, noted that Hegseth's lack of cross-dressing experience caused her to "no trust'um paleface."

At publishing time, Democratic members of the committee also raised concerns over Hegseth's stated opposition to renaming U.S. military bases after transgender indigenous poets of color.
