KANSAS CITY, MO — With the annual deadline looming at the start of next week, a local church made a major move by trading away its worship leader for a new youth pastor and an usher to be named later.
Bellicose Church pulled off the blockbuster trade later Tuesday afternoon, agreeing to send all-star worship leader Ben Clinton across town to Christ Church in exchange for Seth Powers and an usher to be named later. Both congregations were happy with the move.
"These decisions are always tough," said Bellicose spokesman Tim Longobardo. "We love Ben, and he's been a huge part of the success we've had. He's an important part of the team, but sometimes you have to make sacrifices to improve other areas of the roster. We're confident that the guys we're getting in return will make a big impact moving forward."
Clinton, who has filled multiple roles at the church, said the news was bittersweet. "I've been here since the beginning," he said. "It's hard to leave everyone I've been around my whole career, but there's a great opportunity waiting for me at the new church. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me, and I'm taking my talents across town."
Though unconfirmed, reports indicated that Christ Church would be sending one of its highly touted usher prospects to complete the trade.
At publishing time, Christ Church had officially announced the trade and confirmed that Clinton would be in the starting lineup in time for service this Sunday morning.
