CAROL STREAM, IL — An article published by Christianity Today calls into question the existence of Jesus, argues that the Bible is a lie, and says God is dead.
The article was written by guest columnist Garth Strudelfudd, an avowed atheist, who argues the Bible never even mentions Jesus and that, even if it did, it wouldn't matter because it's a lie.
Strudelfudd wrote:
Christians take the existence of Jesus as a given, but should they? You may be surprised to learn that the Bible never even mentions Jesus.
The article, entitled "Jesus may not have existed and the Bible is a lie and God is dead," was slammed by critics for being antithetical to Christianity and ignorant of the abundance of research about the Bible. To which Christianity Today editor-in-chief Russell Moore said, "What's a Bible?"
Christianity Today is a Christian media publication designed to offer biblically grounded journalism to Christians worldwide. But that may be difficult going forward since the magazine and website now claims there is no biblical ground to stand on.
Strudelfudd also wrote:
God is dead, therefore the Bible is a lie. I went to Harvard.
At publishing time, Christianity Today published an article titled "Eat, Drink, and be Merry, for Tomorrow We Die".
Mission accomplished: Satan has just confirmed that Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and will never be coming back.
