BETHLEHEM — As Ruth was about to come pick up extra crops left for her in the fields, workers reportedly spotted Boaz carefully arranging stalks of grain on the ground to spell out "Hey Gurl."
According to sources, Boaz had initially positioned the grain into the shape of a heart, but felt that might be coming on too strong.
"Play it cool, Boaz," whispered Boaz to himself. "Got to keep it subtle, but classy. Just a simple 'Hey Gurl'. No pressure there. Just putting the ball in her court."
Witnesses revealed that Boaz had previously instructed his laborers to let grain fall to the ground so that Ruth would stay in his field and not have to work so hard. "Obviously, he was protecting her, but he was also being a little too obvious about it," said local worker Berek. "Every hour, he was coming over and making us dump out a whole bag to make a little trail to the house. Like, dude, just talk to her already."
At publishing time, Ruth had returned the next day to find the grain perfectly arranged to spell "Sup?"
