CHAPEL HILL, NC — One of the most successful football coaches brushed off the recent media controversy and finally got back to the important business of putting together his team, as Bill Belichick put his girlfriend in a Pack ‘n Play until practice was over.
Sources said Coach Belichick decided to set up the playpen after failing to secure childcare for his girlfriend, but was confident that she would be safe there playing by herself while he led the UNC Tarheels through a spring practice.
"That's it, sweetie, you just stay here and play while I go coach the football men, ok?" Belichick was heard telling his girlfriend after putting her in the Pack ‘n Play. "You've got your sippy cup and your Veggie Straws here, and I brought some of your favorite toys. Just play nice while your Billy-Bill goes to practice, alright?"
When asked about the situation after practice, Belichick was his typically guarded self. "We just trust our process," he told reporters. "We're here to build a football team. When childcare isn't available, we make adjustments and find a way that works. I was still able to check on her here and there between plays. She's fine. I'm fine. The team is fine. That's all there is to it. We're on to the next thing."
At publishing time, team insiders said Belichick had looked into the possibility of using one of the coaching staff's iPads to let his girlfriend watch Cocomelon during future practices and potentially hiring a team nanny to take care of his girlfriend when she travels with the team to away games.
This freshman had a bright future ahead of her, but then her parents spent $250K to send her to a public university.
