SEATLE, WA — The parents of local kid Liam Larper were in for a bit of a surprise this week when they walked in on their son visiting a Great Fairy Fountain in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

"Get out Mom! Why can't you knock first?!" Larper reportedly screamed in a panic as his parents walked in on him. He slammed the door, but didn't do so quickly enough to conceal the embarrassing scene that was playing out on his television.

Larper's mother was reportedly horrified by the sight. "What kind of game is my son playing? I thought this Nintendo game was for kids!" she said, describing the ordeal. "Why was that lady fairy character dressed like that? And that horrifying fairy laugh... it's forever etched in my memory."

The Great Fairy Fountain is a holdover from past Zelda titles, though, in previous entries of the series, the fairies were sprites lacking in detail. But then, the miracle of 64-bit 3D graphics brought the stunning yet disturbing detail of Hyrule's great fairies to kids' rooms across the nation, right under the noses of parents.

At publishing time, Larper's parents had restricted him to the NES version of Zelda.
