U.S. — Customers were helpfully alerted by an Amazon product's 4.2 star rating that it is obviously total crap.
The product reportedly is a knock-off that comes broken, and the manufacturing company's customer service is non-existent. An electrical issue with the product has killed several customers, leading to its abysmal 4.2 rating.
"Product appeared damaged on arrival. Upon plugging in, the product exploded, blowing a ten foot gaping hole in my kitchen and killing my dog. Four out of five stars," read the first review. "Shipped on time though and the color matched the description."
A five-star review reported that though the product appeared to be a knock-off, it did cook one batch of rice before erupting in a fireball. "The rice was delicious and the timer easy to use," read the review. "When it exploded, the fireball size exceeded my expectations. It exceeded my friend Dave's expectations as well, which is partially why he is still recovering in a burn ward. Five stars."
At publishing time, the product rating had risen to 4.3 stars after another five-star review from a customer pleased with the malfunctioning product's blast radius.
