You've read the articles and laughed, or at least pushed a little air out of your nose. Now you can meet the people behind your favorite Christian news satire site. It's like the behind the scenes discs in the Lord of the Rings box set, except without Peter Jackson's soulful voice or all the motion capture technology.
Today, join us in a world of pure imagination as we meet writer Joel Berry.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a 33-year-old father of rambunctious twin boys and two perfect little girls. I have no idea what I'm doing. Send help. I grew up in a Christian home, the oldest of 6. I spent a year at Pensacola Christian College before finishing my first year within a few demerits of being kicked out. After that, I felt a little lost, so I took the next logical step. I joined the Marine Corps Infantry and got deployed to Iraq. Makes total sense, right? It was during that year in Iraq that God really saved me. Pulled away from my "Christian bubble," I had nothing but a small Bible I kept in my flak jacket. God's words came alive to me as I read them. It was in that year I also discovered my love of satire. I wrote some comics making fun of our officers which got me in trouble on several occasions! After the military, I finished my undergrad in Aviation at Bowling Green State University and did some seminary at Liberty University. My wife and I live in Toledo Ohio with our 4 kiddos.
