LOS ANGELES — An investigation has revealed that a secretive bettor going by the name "Shoberto Ohnandez" placed a massive $15 million wager on the Los Angeles Angels to win last night.
The sportsbook that took the bet stated it has received several large wagers in the past from the mysterious Mr. Ohnandez, who won his bet shortly after Shohei Ohtani hit into a triple play in the eighth inning.
"He's got an incredible betting record, Mr. Ohnandez," said bookie Ross Marmot. "I couldn't believe he cashed in last night. Triple play, and then the Dodgers get walked off in extras? Amazing. He stopped by with his interpreter to pick up his winnings, but he was in a hurry. I caught something about a land thing in Hawaii worth a lot of money."
At publishing time, Mr. Ohnandez had declined a request for an interview, stating he had work starting at approximately 9:38 p.m. Eastern time.
