PARIS — The broader French populace became persuaded by the justness of the protesters' cause after seeing them use a homemade blowtorch to set a woman's face on fire.
Protests seized France over the past week, as discontent with the educational system combined with violent migrant opportunism to produce mass unrest, particularly among teenagers. While initially resistant to the rioters' demands for money, welfare, and an Islamic takeover, the French were convinced that the protesters were in the right after seeing them set multiple people on fire while laughing.
"To be honest, I wasn't initially convinced by their arguments," said local citizen Antoine Daveaux. "But when I saw them giving a woman on the street third-degree burns with a makeshift flamethrower, it really made me want to learn more about their cause. These are teenagers going out and filming themselves trying to disfigure random women. When you see that, you can't help but think, 'These are exactly the sort of people we ought to be taking direction from for our country.'"
According to the protesters, the idea to make their case to the public by setting people on fire was spontaneous. "I was trying to decide how best to rhetorically present our grievances to the nation, when it hit me: what if I try to burn this woman's face off?" said protester Mohammed Abdul. "So, I did! We filmed the whole thing, and the response has just been amazing. It's helped so many people come to see the righteousness of our cause."
At publishing time, the United Nations had announced a $500 million aid package to help the poor, oppressed protesters in France.
