CHICAGO, IL — In the wake of two historically bad seasons, the owner of the Chicago White Sox has reportedly opted to enter his team into the WNBA to improve their chances.

"Last year I was watching the players make error after error and it occurred to me that they're way better than everyone in the WNBA," said owner Jerry Reinsdorf. "I think we have a real chance of clinching the WNBA golden necklace or whatever it is those girls compete for."

Sports commentators have suggested that such a drastic chance for the team might alienate their fans if they had any. Former star player Frank Thomas, however, expressed disappointment at the news. "I am big hurt," he said.

Despite criticism by the team's one follower, team manger Will Venable is confident this is the right choice. "Sure, none of them know how to play basketball, but they don't exactly know how to play baseball either," he said. "This is the only chance they have."

At publishing time, the Chicago White Sox were officially admitted to the WNBA after league organizers agreed they are basically all women.
