BIRMINGHAM, AL — When he stepped down from the pulpit Sunday, local Baptist preacher Jim Craver had no idea it would be for the last time. Just days later, old tweets resurfaced in which he used the word "darn," forcing him to step away from his role as Lead Pastor of First Second Baptist Church.

"I sincerely apologize to the Baptist community for my use of a callous word," Craver said in a brief statement. "I was young and naive, but that is no excuse. I take full responsibility for my actions."

Ironically, Craver's final sermon was about taming the tongue.

The tweets in question were made over ten years ago and have since been deleted. In one of the posts he said, "The Dark Knight is a darn good movie." This tweet in particular drew ire from the Baptist community both for the use of "darn" and the fact The Dark Knight is kind of violent.

When the tweets were uncovered, church membership was quick to call for his immediate dismissal.

"My delicate ears!" said Wilma Maddox, an elderly member of the church. "It's like Satan crawled out of his fingertips and vomited all over the keyboard. I know how Twitter works!"
