Hey there Bee subscribers!
It's been a little while, so I figured now's a good time to catch up with you all and fill you in on what's going on at the Bee. It's been an insane few weeks since our Twitter suspension! Between media requests, new projects, moving to new offices, and keeping the site running, everyone's spinning a ton of plates. There just aren't enough hours in the day! But as I write this, the kids are in bed and the house is quiet (for now,) so let's catch up!
Here's a little rundown of what's going on at the Bee:
- Moving to new offices: It seems like only yesterday when we set up the office in California, and we've already outgrown it! This week Kyle and the creative team have been focused on moving to a much bigger office space to accommodate our growing team and give us more space to film video content. I'm sure we'll have some pictures for you soon!
- Creative team meetings: Our leadership and creative team met a few weeks ago to plot out the future of the Bee and set 2 big new projects in motion. We'll be announcing them soon, and they're AWESOME. Stay tuned!
- New books: We finished writing The Babylon Bee Guide to Democracy, which should be coming out sometime in October of this year. I like this one even better than our first book, The Guide to Wokeness! Our creative team really pulled together and hit this one out of the park. This book is longer, funnier, and has better art than anything we've done so far. I can't wait for you all to see it! Kyle and I also finished our novel The Postmodern Pilgrim's Progress, which will be out June 7th.
- Waiting to get back on Twitter: It's been so crazy watching this whole thing play out between Twitter and Elon Musk over the future of Twitter and free speech. There's no indication if or when we'll be allowed back on, but having Twitter privately owned by someone who seems committed to free speech makes us feel we have a great shot! I've been quoting this to myself lately; I think it's really applicable right now: "Put not your trust in princes, in a mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God." - Psalm 146:3-5 It's really wonderful to remember that powerful men, institutions, and governments are no match for a sovereign God. He is in control, the king's heart is in his hand, and all that's required of us is to be faithful! We'll see what happens!
As always, your support and encouragement mean the world to us. We're honored to be able to bring our "2 jokes" to this incredible community, and we look forward to continuing to do so for a very long time. And about that 3rd joke, we're sooooo close. We'll have it for you any day now...
