CHARLOTTE, NC - Elevation Worship is one of the most successful, rich, and famous worship bands around today, but they're about to get the boot from their home church in favor of Irish rock band U2, sources were able to confirm Thursday.
The church came to an agreement with the band for an exclusive residency at a cost of $75 million, locking the musicians up to perform their signature hits for worship services at Elevation for the next four years.
"Anyone attending our services will now be able to enjoy Bono and the gang performing their most beloved hits," Pastor Steven Furtick said at a press conference, seated alongside U2's band members, who were handed Elevation Church swag. "We have a saying here at Elevation: 'It's all about you,' and we wanted to make that a reality by bringing a popular secular rock band into each of our services."
U2 confirmed their plans to play some of their favorite worship hits, such as "With or Without You," "Pride (In the Name of Love)," and "Bullet the Blue Sky" every Sunday morning, and further stated they wouldn't be playing a single song from Pop.
