MENLO PARK, CA - Facebook has rolled out an update to its popular social network, allowing users to flag any items they disagree with as "Literally Hitler," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed Wednesday.
Upon encountering a post they find even slightly offensive, users are now able to click "Report Post," and then select the option "Literally Hitler," so that Facebook can remove the triggering post and shut down the offending account.
"Now you can instantly alert Facebook that a post is literally on the same level as the Nazi authoritarian leader who killed millions," Zuckerberg said at a press conference at which the new feature was revealed. "No matter if it's a mildly tasteless meme, a video that's opposed to your worldview, or a comment that uses triggering language, Facebook staff will be along quickly to ban the Nazi scum that offended you."
Facebook also promised a thorough review policy to confirm that the flagged individual is in fact the moral equivalent of Hitler, including a quick perusal of their political views to see if they're a conservative and a brief glance at their profile to see if they're a Christian.
