Church Forced To Open Orphanage Due To Nursery Check-In Mishap

FORT WAYNE, IN - Add "orphanage" to the list of ministries provided by Motiv8tion Church in Fort Wayne, as the church began providing food and shelter to eleven toddlers who were unable to be released to their parents following services on Sunday.

"We had recently changed the check-in procedures for our Bundles of Blessing Nursery and Awesome Ark Two by Two programs," said Dorcas Smyth, director of Children's Ministries at Motiv8tion. "The state rules and liability requirements leave us no room for error."

Sources say that a volunteer put a sign-out sheet with the previous week's date on the clipboard. By the time the mishap was discovered, all the parents had already signed their children in, so it was too late.

"I know this is difficult for the people who are claiming to be the 'parents' of these kids, but the fact is, if we're audited and the wrong dates are on there, we would have to shut the nursery program down, and run the risk of losing all our young families," said senior pastor Zakarey Thomas. "In the meantime, we've got Goldfish® to spare, and we're making sure the kids know that Jesus loves them even if their parents don't care enough to check their paperwork."
